Description

Desert ironwood is a very attractive wood for its unique properties and wonderful appearance. It comes from the Sonoran Desert on the border between the USA and Mexico. Core wood can be orange-yellow to reddish-brown, with dark, brown to black stripes. The white wood is yellowish white. The fibers are straight or wavy, with an excellent natural shine. Different colors of heartwood create a very interesting texture. There are many knots and other defects in wood, so quality pieces are only available in small sizes.
