Steel M390 - 4.3 x 50 x 250 mm
Martensitic chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy with extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance for the production of special and custom knives.
Stainless Steel M390 MICROCLEAN - 4.3 x 50 x 250 mm
BÖHLER M390 MICROCLEAN stainless steel is a martensitic chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Thanks to the alloys used, this steel offers extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance, which is a unique combination for the most demanding applications. Due to its extreme resistance to abrasion wear, it is also used for the production of special and custom-made knives, where an extremely long service life is required.
Properties of PM steel BÖHLER M390 MICROCLEAN
- Very good toughness and ductility
- Very high wear resistance
- Good machinability
- Very high dimensional stability
- Excellent polishability
- Very good corrosion resistance
- Very high micropurity
Heat treatment of PM steel BÖHLER M390 MICROCLEAN
Annealing to remove internal stress: 650 °C
Hardening: 1100 - 1180 °C, hold the temperature for 20 - 30 minutes (for a temperature of 1180 °C)
Tempering: for the highest corrosion resistance, temper once for a minimum of 2 hours at 200 - 300°C. For best wear resistance, temper twice for a minimum of 2 hours at 540 - 560°C. After each heat treatment step, the material should be cooled to approx. 30 °C!
Cryogenic heat treatment: - 80 °C, increases hardness by 1-3 HRC
Achieved hardness: 58 - 62 HRC
Chemical composition
Chemical composition: C 1.9; Si 0.7; Mn 0.3; Cr 20; Mo 1.0; V 4.0; W 0.6
Supplied material
The material is delivered in an annealed state.
There may be scale or surface corrosion on the surface.
Some material may already be descaled by sandblasting.
According to the production technology, the material may not be perfectly straight.
Microcracks may appear on the surface of the material from production, so it is recommended to sand off approx. 0.1 - 0.15 mm from the top layer.
The material is split with a water jet, laser technology or a band saw.
In the case of cutting the material with a laser, the edge may be cloudy after the cut, so when cutting the material with a band saw, we recommend first sanding off the weak layer of the edge to avoid dulling the saw band.
Dimensional tolerances
Material thickness tolerance: +/- 0.28 mm
Material width tolerance: +/- 1.0 mm
Material length tolerance: +/- 3.0 mm
