Description
Zebrawood comes from West Africa, it occurs mainly in Gabon and Congo. Core wood is light yellow-brown or cream in color with narrow darker stripes, white wood is white. The fibers are wavy or intertwined, the texture is medium to coarse, with a natural sheen. Zebrawood is a tropical wood with a unique and unmistakable appearance, reminiscent of zebra striping, thanks to which it got its name.
Properties
The wood is hard, has a high density, is very resistant to weathering, wood-destroying insects and fungi. It is usually stable after drying. It is characterized by high toughness, so it is also used for the production of sports equipment.
Processing
Zebrawood is quite easy to process. It cuts well, but planing can be difficult due to its intertwined fibers. It turns well, grinds, glues and finishes.
